1. The Importance of Surface Energy (Dyne Levels) & Top-Coating

Un-treated filmic face stocks (PP, PE, PET) naturally possess low surface energy, causing liquid inks to bead up rather than wet out. To ensure maximum ink adhesion:

  • Corona Treatment: Increases physical surface energy temporarily prior to printing.
  • Printable Top-Coating (TC): A permanent chemical receptive layer applied during raw material manufacturing that guarantees ink keying across UV, Solvent, and Water-based inks.
