Description
The HP Indigo digital press was also known as a Digital Offset Color Press in the beginning.
The Indigo is said to be offset because Indigo digital presses also use offset cylinders and blankets to transfer the inked image to the substrate. The offset printing process has two benefits: firstly, it protects the surface of the plate from excessive wear and tear caused by friction on the substrate during printing; and secondly, it compensates for any leakage due to the uneven surface of the substrate and ensures that the ink can be printed into any depressions. In other words, it acts as a pressure cushion, ensuring that the pressure is evenly distributed to ensure a balanced transfer of ink from the blanket to the substrate.The offset process used on Indigo digital presses is based on these same two benefits, allowing customers to use a wide range of substrates.The significant difference between the Indigo offset process and the traditional offset process is that there is no ink residue on Indigo press.
Our Indigo materials are predominantly film products with a proprietary Indigo coating on the face, and are available in rolls of standard widths of 330 mm and lengths of 100m-6000m, and in sheets of standard sizes of A3+, A3, A4 and A3+.
